Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard is an intelligent keyboard that learns from you, delivering the best next-word prediction, smarter autocorrect, support for over 800 emoji (emoticons), emojisearch and more. It's the keyboard that makes typing fast, accurate and fun!

SwiftKey Keyboard uses Artificial Intelligence to automatically learn your writing style, including the emoji you love to use (if you use emoji), the words that matter to you and how you like to type. This means autocorrect and predictive text that actually works because it adapts to you.

Features & Highlights

Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard stands out in the crowded landscape of mobile keyboards, offering a plethora of features designed to enhance typing efficiency and user experience. Here are some of the core features that make SwiftKey a go-to choice for many users:

  • Intelligent Autocorrect: SwiftKey’s autocorrect feature learns from your typing habits, making it significantly more accurate over time. For example, if you often type "brb" when texting friends, SwiftKey will learn this and correct it with near-perfect precision, allowing you to type faster without worrying about errors.
  • Personalized Predictions: The app analyzes your writing style to provide tailored word suggestions. Whether you’re drafting a formal email or sending a casual message, SwiftKey predicts the words you’re most likely to use next, reducing the time spent typing. I often find myself amazed at how accurately it suggests phrases I frequently use.
  • Swipe Typing: With SwiftKey’s swipe feature, you can glide your finger across the keyboard to form words instead of tapping each key. This is especially useful when I'm multitasking or when I need to respond to messages quickly while on the go.
  • Multi-Language Support: SwiftKey supports over 400 languages, making it a versatile choice for multilingual users. I frequently switch between English and Spanish when texting friends and family, and SwiftKey seamlessly transitions without missing a beat.
  • Custom Themes: The ability to customize the keyboard’s appearance allows users to express their personality. I love changing themes based on my mood or the season, which adds a little flair to my daily texting routine.

Real Experience Using Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard

Application Scenarios

My relationship with Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard began when I was looking for a more efficient way to communicate on my smartphone. As someone who often juggles work emails, personal texts, and social media messages, I needed a keyboard that could keep up with my fast-paced lifestyle. Whether I’m responding to urgent work emails during my morning commute or sending a quick message to a friend while waiting in line at my favorite coffee shop, SwiftKey has become an indispensable tool in my daily life.

One memorable instance was during a busy week at work when I had back-to-back meetings. I relied heavily on SwiftKey to quickly shoot off replies and notes. The swift predictive text allowed me to stay engaged in conversations without missing important information. Its swipe feature made it possible for me to type with one hand, which was crucial when I was holding my phone and a coffee cup in the other hand!

User Experience

The user interface of Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard is sleek and intuitive. The layout is designed for ease of use, and I appreciate the smooth transitions between different features. The workflow is seamless; I can easily switch between languages or access my personalized emojis with just a few taps. The autocorrect function, which I initially found a bit aggressive, has become one of my favorite features as it adapts to my typing style over time.

Performance-wise, SwiftKey is incredibly responsive. I’ve never encountered lag while typing, which is a significant plus for someone like me who types quickly. The overall experience has been overwhelmingly positive; I feel more confident in my typing accuracy, and my messages are clearer, thanks to the app’s intelligent suggestions.

Pricing

One of the best aspects of Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard is that it is completely free to download and use. There are no hidden charges or premium features locked behind a paywall, which is refreshing in the app market. Users can enjoy all its features without worrying about subscription fees, making it accessible to everyone.

Updates & Support

SwiftKey frequently rolls out updates that enhance performance and add new features, ensuring that users have access to the latest technology. The support available is commendable; the app includes a help section that answers common questions, and the community forums are active and helpful. I feel reassured knowing that Microsoft is committed to improving the app based on user feedback.

Security & Privacy Review

When it comes to security and privacy, Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard takes significant steps to protect user data. Available on both the App Store and Google Play, the app has garnered positive reviews regarding its security measures. Users can download it with confidence, knowing that it adheres to industry-standard security protocols.

Regarding registration and personal data, SwiftKey does require users to create an account to access some features, such as cloud syncing. However, the app is transparent about what data it collects and how it is used. I appreciate that I can control my privacy settings directly within the app.

While SwiftKey does display ads, they are not intrusive, and the app allows for a relatively ad-free experience if you opt out of certain features. Additionally, tracking behavior is minimal, which is a crucial factor for many American users concerned about privacy. Overall, I feel that Microsoft has made a commendable effort to balance functionality with user privacy in SwiftKey.

The swipe recognition is very inaccurate and shows only *three* options which typically do not include the correct word. It should let the user choose from *a lot more* possible words, not just three. No matter what Microsoft does it cannot recognize the flow correctly all the time. Just give the options to the users. It is not hard.

Reducing this to one star. The Ai isn't even pretending anymore. This keyboard's AI now is both crazy aggressive about implementing bad changes and refusing to make logical ones. it turns my typing, whether accurate or bad at the moment, into gibberish. It adds letters to words and then words to phrases without regard to context. Rarely do I type anything that doesn't require editing afterwards.... Microsoft tried a fix, which worked for awhile, but it again is as bad as it was before the fix.

I have used this keyboard for a very long time but it's started to really slip in quality lately. It regularly replaces words I've spelled correctly with nonsense words. I even try to delete those nonsense words from its memory but it still does it. Also now it sensors swear words when I used the voice to text option. It didn't do that before. Now it does and there is no option to turn it off.

3/26: Still sucks. 🫤 9/25: Tried SwiftKey from Gboard to see if things improved. I miss the ability to capitalize and ALL CAPS a word after typing. But OMG, I can't type a single sentence without multiple corrections. Tried typing "fire" 4 times and got "die" or "for" over and over, even after trying to be very precise. Gboard uses sentence context much better, and offers much better predictions than SwiftKey. Gboard also doesn't predict words from 2nd language in mid-sentence. Gah!

I have been a SwiftKey user for probably a decade. But since the change in voice typing recently, I've been using gboard. But I have to admit, typing on this is just a million times better. And now I'm really torn. I've been experimenting today, and voice typing seems much improved from when it first changed. But there's one thing keeping me from coming back and using it regularly with a 4 or 5 star review; Samsung pen handwriting to text. Gboard has it. Surely this can too. Let's go!
