4.7 Features & Highlights
Paylocity has emerged as a go-to solution for businesses looking to streamline their payroll and human resources processes. With its user-friendly interface and robust features, it caters to a wide range of organizational needs. Here are some core features that stand out:
Real Experience Using Paylocity
Application Scenarios
My experience with Paylocity began when I started a new job at a mid-sized company. From the moment I logged in, I found myself using the app almost daily. One of the first things I did was access the employee self-service portal to review my pay stub. This was incredibly helpful — I could easily check my earnings, tax withholdings, and even download past pay stubs for my records. Additionally, when it came time to request time off for a family vacation, the intuitive interface made submitting my request a breeze. I simply logged in, navigated to the time-off section, and sent my request with just a few clicks. I received a notification once it was approved, which kept me in the loop without needing to chase down my manager.
User Experience
The user interface of Paylocity is clean and modern, making it easy to navigate through various functionalities. The dashboard presents essential information at a glance, and the quick links to payroll, time tracking, and employee resources make finding what I need a simple task. I never felt overwhelmed by the features; instead, the workflow is designed to guide you intuitively from one task to the next. Performance-wise, the app runs smoothly on both desktop and mobile, with minimal lag times. Overall, my feelings after using Paylocity have been overwhelmingly positive, as it enhances my work life by simplifying essential HR tasks.
Pricing
When it comes to pricing, Paylocity offers various packages tailored to meet different business needs. While the specifics can vary based on the size of the company and the features selected, I found the pricing to be competitive compared to other HR solutions in the market. The investment is worthwhile when you consider the efficiency gained and the time saved on payroll and HR tasks.
Updates & Support
Paylocity continually updates its platform to ensure it meets current HR and payroll requirements. I’ve noticed that they regularly roll out new features and enhancements, which keeps the app fresh and aligned with industry standards. As for support, the customer service team has been responsive and helpful whenever I’ve had questions or needed assistance. Their support resources, including tutorials and live chat options, also add to the overall positive experience.
Security & Privacy Review
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when it comes to any app handling personal and financial information. Paylocity is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets necessary app store guidelines for security. During registration, I was required to provide essential personal data, which is standard for payroll processing applications. However, I appreciated that they clearly communicated how my data would be used and protected.
Regarding ads or tracking behavior, I found that Paylocity does not bombard users with ads, which is a common concern in many free apps. They focus on providing a streamlined user experience without unnecessary distractions. Instead of tracking for advertising purposes, Paylocity uses data to enhance their services and improve user experience, which I find much more acceptable. Overall, I feel confident in using Paylocity, knowing they prioritize user security and privacy.

This app is ridiculous. The interface is confusing, and is not very user friendly on Android. The login password has to be changed every so often and so remembering it is a pain since it has to change so frequently. Can't use biometrics on my phone, also my fingerprints get messed up due to the nature of my job. If the login and interface were easier this would be a better app. At least create an option to opt out of constant password changes.

No support for Google Authenticator MFA. Has an "AI assistant" that tells you how to enable it, but the instructions reference menus that don't exist and settings that aren't available. This could be prevented by providing quick access shortcuts to click and open directly to the setting you're requesting. But most likely it's just hallucinating settings that *should* exist for basic payroll security. You can't even edit time off requests in the app. You have to visit the web version to edit.

Constant issues with just clocking in at the beginning of my shift. Will be "processing" for 2-5 minutes requiring me to ask for a correction from my supervisor. Using it for on-call results in our staff and supervisor constantly having to fix timesheets. In theory its good. In execution, it seems like a few versions short of a beta test.

location services pings phone when off the clock. not cool. need functionality of location in "when using the app" mode to clock in and out. "always on" isnt ok. tracking exact moment of punches is one thing. tracking while not using the app on off time on personal devices is another. if location is not "always on" punches can only be done with approval. make "when using the app" work for instant time punches that dont require approval.

Cannot see a full schedule showing who else will also be working day to day, and cannot find actual pay statements- just a breakdown of some pay features in the app. They may BE there somewhere, but it is not clear at all how to access them. Full statements should be clearly accessible, especially when most people use direct deposit and never see a full payout in the mail.
