Features & Highlights
Vivint is a smart home security system that integrates advanced technology with user-friendly features. Here are some core highlights that make Vivint a standout choice for home safety:
Real Experience Using Vivint
Application Scenarios
Living in a bustling neighborhood, I often find myself reliant on the Vivint app for daily security management. One evening, I returned home late from work. As I approached my front door, I realized I’d forgotten to lock it. With a quick tap on the Vivint app, I locked the door from my phone without having to fumble with keys. Additionally, I appreciate using the app to check live camera feeds when I’m expecting a delivery. This way, I can ensure that my package is safe while I’m unable to watch it in person.
User Experience
The user interface of the Vivint app is impressively intuitive. Navigating through different functions feels seamless, whether I’m accessing the live camera feeds or adjusting my alarm settings. The app loads quickly, and I’ve rarely encountered any lag or issues. One feature I particularly love is the home automation settings. For instance, creating a “Goodnight” routine that turns off the lights, locks all doors, and sets the alarm with a single command feels incredibly satisfying. Overall, using the Vivint app has been a smooth and enjoyable experience, making home security feel less like a chore and more like an effortless part of my lifestyle.
Pricing
Vivint's pricing can be a bit steep compared to other home security services, but it reflects the quality of their technology and monitoring services. Monthly plans start at around $29.99 for basic monitoring, with additional costs for advanced features and equipment. Although it requires an upfront investment for installation, I believe the peace of mind it provides is well worth the expense.
Updates & Support
Vivint is known for its responsive customer support. Whenever I've had questions about new features or needed assistance with my system, their support team has been quick to respond. Regular app updates ensure that I have access to the latest features and security enhancements, which adds to my confidence in the service. The overall commitment to customer satisfaction has made my experience with Vivint feel valued and supported.
Security & Privacy Review
When it comes to security and privacy, American users have valid concerns, especially with smart home technology. The Vivint app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, making it easily accessible for users across various devices. However, upon registration, the app requires personal data, including your name, address, and contact information. While this is standard for security systems, it’s essential to be aware of data collection practices.
One aspect that could be concerning is the potential for ads or tracking behavior. Fortunately, Vivint has a solid reputation for transparency regarding user data. They do not bombard users with excessive advertisements, and their privacy policy clearly outlines how personal information is used and protected. Overall, I feel reassured knowing that my data is handled with care, allowing me to enjoy the benefits of the Vivint app without compromising my privacy.

The latest update causes the app to freeze, and you have to force stop it and then open it again for it to work. Also, video playback is hit and miss, and sometimes it will jump from the day you are scrolling to some previous day's feed. The video will also get stuck on a certain minute of the day, and you can't play another. Receive error of it can't play it. It worked better before the most recent update. Please fix this. Thank you.

Terrible. For how much the system costs (monthly fees plus equipment) you would expect it to work. The app is glitchy, the "smart" features are constantly failing, the camera constantly goes offline, and the package recognition system is utterly worthless. We've had numerous packages stolen and half the time the deter sound doesn't even go off. I'm fed up, have been fed up for a long time but we're stuck with the stupid thing. Maybe this will deter someone from making my mistake.

It worked well at first but now barely works at all. I can't load camera events, can't use 2 way communication through either of the cameras on any device, door lock and garage doesn't update status. Recently started getting duplicate notifications for every camera event. It's so annoying and so distracting with the fake notifications that I've stopped looking at them which defeats the whole purpose. Can't wait for my contract to be up, nothing works the way it's supposed to.

Update 3/12/2025 The app is worse than ever. I can't retrieve any video recordings, and it skips around on the times. Fix it already! When we first bought the system everything had worked as it should. Now a couple years later we have had nothing but issues with both the app and the system. We paid entirely too much money for the garbage this has turned into. Wish there was a way to get a refund since it's not performing as it should. My advice? Don't waste your money with this system.

For me, right now, my problem is more of an app issue than equipment. Mine keeps saying someone is at your door, but no one is there. It happens all times o the night and wakes me up. There is no way to stop it, or I can't figure it out. I even tried to reduce the zone sensitivity thinking that would work , since that is what Google told me to do. It worked fine until the last update. App won't show some recordings either.
